Intellectual Safety Schools?

That depends on your stats.

What are your stats?

If your state U has an honors program, that is always an option.

I say Rhodes College comes to my mind. Its a great LAC located at Memphis,TN. Also, Im going there :p

you could check out you state Univ

You guys thank you soo much! And Rabban, I sure hope you are right...I keep thinking I need to get my SATs up and my average. I'm going to work my butt off for the SATs this summer. So, nope, no total relaxation for me, but I'll try! Anyone else have schools to share with me? (I need to create a new list of colleges to look through!)

Colby and Holy Cross.

Holy Cross, and especially Colby, are not easy to get into. Also, Colby is so small, that works against applicants.

Check out Bard College in NY, (again--not very easy to get in.) Hampshire's a good choice too.

What about Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas?

Again, thanks for your help guys! ricegal, i'd rather not go too far away from home (NYC)...but thanks! Anyone else have any other schools in mind? How did you guys find your match and safety schools?

The best way to see whether a place is a match or safety is to look at the common data sets of the schools. That can tell you the stats of the past entering classes. It's also best to visit if you can (or, barring that, absorb as much as you can via the internet/mailings) to see if you are comfortable there. Only apply to schools you are willing to attend! Don't waste your time or the school's.

Your list is good. You have included some schools that are really excellent, yet are able to admit most good applicants. So, if you can come up with one true safety, you will be fine.

Safties based on my son's experience: BU, Trinity College, Holy Cross, Lehigh, Union. I guess it depends on your definition of intellectual.

Okay...so i'll look up Trinity, Lehigh, I liked Sarah Lawrence ( I think it might be my safety or match), i'm thinking of St John College although i'm kind of worried to committing to such a particular school. Do any of you know about this college (especially the one in Annapolis). OneMom, do you really think I only need one true safety?

I'm open to more guys! Keep 'em coming!

I would call Boston University a safety, and probably Brandeis. You'll probably crack quite a few, if not almost all, of those other eggs you have.

Clark U in Worcester, MA is exactly what you're looking for...respected academics, intimate atmosphere, not that tough to get into.

YES. YES. Come to SLC! Come to SLC!!!

lol, sorry - I think I said it before, but that's where I'm going. If you're into individuality and being different, then it's definitely the place for you. It's the best place to be for intellectual discussions - it's what the curriculum is based on... I'm excited about the school, as most students are. It's an amazing place, everyone is really supportive about your unique talents and interests... Oh, I can go on forever. I'm just happy to hear that someone thinks it's their match. =D <3

I have to promote Tufts, hehe. It's much akin to an LAC in social atmosphere, but has the research opportunities of a research university, which is great, and the relationships you build with professors here are phenomenal. I didn't notice what type of field you're looking into however, that would obviously help narrow, but if you're looking at LAC's, I assume it's nothing very pre-professional?

Lol...Kheryn, i'm so glad you're so passionate about SLC! I do like what I see on paper though! How are the facilities there? What do you think makes it unique from other colleges?
Rainmanoutofsnow, I heard that Brandeis is not staying as a safety anymore but it's become more competitive. I think BU could be a match...
TourGuide446, i'm looking into Clark. It sounds good to me so far!
Duffman28, I think Tufts is a bit more reach for me than match and definately not safety! But I really respect what you have to promote. I actually want to go into the humanities...an english major but go to law school in the end.

Thanks guys! Please ans my questions if you can and more promotions are just great!

Colorado College

Ah, well, for humanities, Tufts is obv great as it was an LAC originally for years. If you have any questions feel free to PM me.
