hi--there were some unfortunate postings on another site from disgruntled pitzer students claiming a lack of academic motivation amongst the pitzer students. there was talk of apathy, minimal intellectual curiosity, poor classroom discussion preparation and participation. positive things were said about friendliness and nobility. the admission rate for pitzer has dramatically decreased---consequently maybe there are more academically driven kids there??

bumpity bump

Yes. Pitzer students are driven for the most part. As mentioned in another thread, they just know how to balance everything, so you don’t see that academic stress on campus. But they recognize they are here for academics first.

Like any school, there is a wide range of intellectual prowess, engagement and drive within Pitzer’s student body. During my experience, the majority of students were bright, eager and prepared. That said, you do have a few slackers in every class, yet that is not a distraction (rather wall paper). Keep in mind that many students are activists and that social-economic outreach for positive change engenders academic strength & knowledge-based learning.
