those two are definitely not the only two people in asia either unless it's ten years ago or something because i personally know two from south korea who got in harvard EA this year

yeah.. 2 students from the whole of asia seems a bit farfetched

Bowdoin accepted full aid

from our school one got into princeton, one got into cornell, and one got into williams

Well. let us forget what all the publicity says.(what are they and how they deal with news, we all know)
I know that girl very well.let us see:
she won over 70 awards from all kinds of competitionin almost ten fields.(and 70 is all over city-level, e.g.:best debater of the year, first prize in computer science, writing, maths model etc.)
she owned the teenager website when she was 15.
she was the president of the shanghai student government and her school's as well.
she published two books and was awarded the best student of shanghai years ago....

yeah, and she went to sidwell friends school for one year as an exchange student and had an amazing trip. some story such as she scored in her very first field hockey game went around.(she heard there was a game called field hockey four days ago)
and as a schoolmate of this girl, i must say her scores and rankings are excellent overall.
the media did tell a lie about this. the purpose is only to attract.
and these days, she wrote some articles on her own to fight with the wrong voice of media on this issue.

o.k. so ,Harvard is wise as usual.

maybe the media thought that asia = china + india
that ****es me off:(

media is always like....everywhere....and you know the word-choice is the trick they play.
we should just focus on the applicants themselves and not to care about the media. so i said, "these days, she wrote some articles on her own to fight with the wrong voice of media on this issue." she is a very honourable person that always fights with the bad.

Brown ED .... rejected

yeah media is always a beach..
anyway she seems like a very nice person from what you said...
lol maybe that Chinese EA girl is October! you seem to know a great deal about her

media....no word for it. if you are in our school, you will know more about her than herself.

interesting..
well thx for the info anyway :)
makes all us EA deferees feel better

well, it's kinda late..but.. i applied to ED to Columbia and got deferred...
I was really upset at first, but since i read somewhere that it gained 7,000 or more early applicants this year:(three times more than last year).., makes me feel better..lol And the fact that i didn't get rejected kinda makes me hope..lol

Okay, good luck to everyone.!!

p.s.- it's comforting to know that i am not the ONLY one who got deferred cuz most ED, EA people got in from my school..i felt left out..lol

jwlee. the fact is that India + China = 1/3 the population of the world. they dominate asia, so they are the first two countries anybody thinks of when they think "asia"

Brown ED.......Accepted

Congrats!!

Harvard EA deferred : me and 8000 other people :D

Does anyone know if anyone from India was accepted Princeton ED? (At the risk of sounding ultra mean-I seriously hope not. Seriously :p)

CONGRATS TO DAYDREAMER !!!! AND TO ALL THE OTHER ACCEPTEDs AS WELL!!!!!!!

to the deferred and rejecteds: WE WILL HAVE OUR DAY, GUYS !!!!!!!!!

"I know a girl from China got admitted into Harvard along with another Indian guy(Under Early Decision). They are the only two persons accepted at Harvard under early decision from Asia, according the news media."

Wait... Harvard doesn't have early decision. They have early ACTION. And plus, I really really doubt that only 2 students got in EA from Asia.. because there are so many Asian students who applied from Asia, and the number of internationals at Harvard is about 200 each year. So, only 2 out of 200 possible enrolees got in Early Action?

agree with upandover.
accepted at iub (does that count?) and was rejected at Yale EA (they didn't get my TOEFL and my essays really sucked).

Meder, IUB counts for sure. It's a great place, about 75% of alumni go on to graduate school, which means for most getting top-notch scholarships, because they are from poor countries. Also take into account that IUB exists only for 4 years and it is growing a lot. IUB is not ranked because they do not want to; if they did, they would be in the first tier. I'm not saying IUB is Harvard - which it definitely is not, but we should not view it as Nowhere U, especially bc we are in. The sole fact that there are more than 70 nations of campus makes me dream:)
