Intels-how are you mailing your stuff?

are you using snail mail or DHL/Fedex whatever?
I'm planing on sending my recs and transcripts (yes, my school won't do that) with ordianry mail and I was wondering if I was taking too large a chance...
the Bulgarian postal office web site says it can take from 7 to 30 days for a package to reach its US destination, usually around 2 weeks. do you think a month would be too late for recs and transcripts? I'm using the common app online, so the most important parts of my app will arrive on time.

Whats the cheapest form to mail that is registered? It doesn't have to be Fedex express though it should be registered so it definately gets there. It's a risk for internationals otherwise because even after a month you couldn't be sure if its still in transit or "lost"

Better safe than sorry.

yup for the same reason i chose DHL...at least i feel sure that my stuff WILL reach US...and the best part is that it just takes 2 days to deliver!!

Although DHL costs quite a bit more than normal cheapo mail.

Oh, oh - I used the normal air mail system. Do you think that this will be a problem? Will things really get lost?

no they dont....usually....but its all about taking the risk however trivial it might be....i was scared of the fact that i will have to go through the gruesome procedure of compiling the stuff again if my package gets lost!!

The chances are relatively low that you lose anything. It's ur risk to take. Just make sure you keep in close contact with the colleges to make sure everything arrives.

DHL- its hell expensive but atleast if they lose my mail, I can sue and become rich...can't say the same of the Indian Mail.

use the express mail////////

i used FedEx for all my 1/1 deadline schools, yup they cost a hell lot. It's like 10 times the price of normal mail...... i'm sending the rest by regular mail.

FedEx is good because you can track your application online. When the college receives it, you can see who signed for it. If the college does lose your app (not FedEx), you can help them look for it.

A little added perk. A courier service is hellishly expensive, but it works.

But I hope that Columbia/Wesleyan will not lose my apps. I don't want to spend any more money resending them stuff!!!

I have a UPS office near my house, but I'm a little twitchy about it. Stupid me. It's within walkin' distance. :o

how about the canadian normal postal service? will my mails get lost? so worry.... the deadline is approaching and according to all the schools that i am applying to, they havent received anything.....

does anyone here know if colleges care when they receive recs/transcripts so long as it's post marked by their deadline? Anyone?

There are some schools that say they want recs/transcripts on the actual deadline. I forgot which ones I overheard being nitpicky like that. Sorry... Most colleges don't mind, so long as it's postmarked by then. Best to check their inidividual website, instead of purely online Common App. (Oh, the guilt!)

I'm sending them through snail mail but with receipt confirmation, so it's gonna be more expensive than the usual snail mail, but much cheaper tha DHL or EMS or whatever....

and btw...I inquired at the post office and they told me the envelope would be there in 7-10 working days. :)

Sweeet... Thanks, Lakshmi.

i sent my JHU ED app via DHL and it cost me on $7...so i guess i'm sending all my apps thro' DHL....i dont trust "Pos Indonesia"

$7 through DHL???????????????????

man you are so darn lucky!

a friend of mine submitted his ed app through dhl and it cost him 60 euros!!!!
