I’m currently a senior applying to UC Berkeley, and I’m really interested in their joint Electrical/Nuclear engineering degree program. Does it matter whether I check electrical or nuclear in the application? Will checking nuclear give me a better chance of admissions?
Applicants to the College of Engineering are admitted by major, so selectivity can vary based on how popular each major is relative to its department’s capacity. EECS is extremely popular these days (mainly because of CS).

Consider which major you would rather do if you are not admitted to the joint major after two semesters.
You may want to ask the College of Engineering whether the difficulty of admission to the joint major is different coming from EECS versus NE.
