Intensity

I am concerned about the work load at Davidson. Current students, about how many hours do you spend on homework/studying on a typical weekday? On a weekend?

Thanks.

Better yet--get in touch with one of the senior admissions fellows or other students listed on the admissions page--they are specifically there to answer questions and could probably give you good insights.

The workload at any school really depends on the classes you are taking and the kind of person you are. It was a lot for me b/c I'm psycho meticulous but you learn a lot!

I am not going to lie, the workload is intense and at times challenging enough to make you doubt whether you can make it...but when you get through that hell week you feel on top of the world. You earn everything you get here, and while that is a harsh adjustment from highschool, it more closely resembles the real world and makes you proud of your accomplishments no matter how humble.

Our twins attended Junior Day at Davidson in February and fell in love with the school. We have two family friends who have ( or are attending ) Davidson, and have heard about the level of work, intensity, etc.

Our kids talked with juniors and seniors in the student center that Saturday and asked about this particular subject. The students our twins spoke with related first semester of Freshman year was TOUGH- work load, adjusting to environment, etc. However, each student said that professors were very helpful in "getting through" this period and they love the school, environment, etc.

On this particular Saturday ( last in February ) students were in courtyards and student center studying which is what I would expect for a high selective school.

I will say we understand from both family friends there is no grade inflation, students work hard for every grade, and feel there education is superb.
