Intensive Summer Courses?

Has anyone had experience with these, particularly with science classes?

I'm asking because next year, I will need to take orgo, physics, and biology classes (plus some other fourth class) each quarter. I want to lighten this load by getting one of the science sequences (preferably physics) out of the way during the summer.

The physics course runs for about 6 weeks, for 3 hours every day Monday-Friday plus about 6 hours of lab per week. It covers three quarters' worth of material. Obviously, that is pretty intense. I didn't take physics in high school, so I'm wondering if I would be able to handle this. On the one hand, I'm not good at physics and it's a lot of material crammed into a short amount of time, but on the other hand, I would hopefully be able to devote all my time to just this one class.

So, has anyone had any experience with intensive summer courses? What was it like? Was it manageable?

This is all purely hypothetical at this point. The course would cost about 10 grand, plus I would need to find a place to stay on or near campus (even more money). The financial aspect alone might keep me from doing it, but I just wanted to hear feedback in case I can possibly do this.

Thoughts?

Holy hell that is a lot of money for one class.

I am taking Philosophy and Physics E&M over the summer at a local community college for $700.

Look around at local colleges and see if anything transfers to your school. I mean I am at Michigan’s engineering program, so if they let me take Physics at a community college, then most places will.

The reason it’s so much is that it’s actually 3 classes, because it’s 3 quarters’ worth. It’s about $3,300 per credit, but that’s still a lot more than your $700, lol.

I was planning on looking at the local community colleges, but their summer course offerings haven’t been sent out yet. But when they do come out, I will be sure to check them out. Thanks for the advice!

Has anyone else had any experience with this?

Lol courses cost like $500 here
