I've come across a few well known intensive summer language programs like Middlebury College, Mills College, and the Monterey Institute....but I was wondering if anyone else knew of some other well-renouned intensive summer language programs. I've recently been accepted into a few IR grad school programs in which you are required to have the basic knowledge of a foreign language. I'm currently studying French and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts? Thanks.

Not sure how intensive it is, but many people suggest Concordia Villages.

Andover Summer program at Phillips Academy also has a decent selection of language courses.

My high school daughter attended Concordia Villages for Spanish last summer. It was disappointing. Although she had a fun time due to the friends she made (and is still in touch with some) she didn’t really learn much Spanish. Although the program claims that students will speak Spanish outside the classroom, that didn’t happen. A friend of hers attended a CTY Spanish program and made amazing progress.
