Hey guys! So I'm a second year at UC Davis and I was hoping to transfer to UCI. I applied to UCSD and UCLA as well, but I already know thats a long shot, so I'd rather just know my chances at Irvine haha. Also, I listed a couple of things on my application from high school, does anyone know if those help at all? I included being Track Captain for 3 years, Varsity Football for 4 years, Track MVP, Senior Scholar Athlete, graduating Magna Cum Laude, Key Club Treasurer, and an AP Scholar with distinction

Major: Engineering: Computer Science
Current GPA: 3.16, GPA shows a growing trend. Still an awful GPA, I know :(
Major pre-reqs: in progress, I just need to take my third Physics class and a programming class
UC Reciprocity: In progress, should be done by the end of spring.
ECs: UCD Boxing Club and UCD Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Club
Work + Volunteering Experience

I'm trying to bring my GPA up past 3.2 this quarter, but everything's up in the air at this point. So what do you guys think?

I feel UCSD and UCI are not ridiculous at all. UCLA on the other hand would be quite the miracle if you got in. Then again, nobody really knows with UC-UC transfers. Good luck

Engineering is hard to get into at any school. UCi and UCSD are both mid-tier schools so a good number of people are applying to them. From what I have seen at CC, basically people who get 3.4+ and fall short of UCLAs or UCBs standards TAG into UCI. So they are easier, but only because you can guarantee yourself admission.

With a 3.2, OP is below the standard of even CC students. Also ECs don’t matter as much for transfers, furthermore his aren’t linked to his major.

An extremely low chance for UCI imho…Engineering is quite selective and it’s unlikely that most of your courses will fulfill UCI requirements. UCLA is an impossibility and I don’t know about UCSD…

Ah welp. I feel like the consensus in this thread is that I shouldn’t be expecting much haha. Sucks to suck I suppose. Damn, I was hoping I wouldn’t have to stay at Davis for another 2 years haha

Don’t give up! Do well this quarter bro, you can do it. I personally know someone who transferred last year with a 3.2 from UC Riverside to UCSD, with also an acception to UCI (didn’t get into LA though).

Haha thank you Iozzleface! I won’t man, it aint over till it’s over. I love how this thread is giving me just enough hope to motivate me, but not enough to expect much haha
