I think her name is pronounced jah-ney. And yeah, she’s half black.

Girls are…girls

/profound statement

Races dont manner…
What is the thesis of your paper?

Something like: An analysis of the asian male perspective on relations with african american females reveals that the majority don’t care about the color of skin while the opposition feels there is no basis for attraction.

I know… it need improval

Are you referring to an Asian-American or Asians in general? I can’t speak for all areas, but I know that traditionally, in certain areas of China, they aren’t too fond of anyone with dark skin. Not just African-Americans, but any ethnicity with darker complexion.

both asian american and asian

ehhh yeah in china, there are absolutely no black people

asian americans…well i have an asian guy friend who likes black girls, but most of them like white girls or asian girls

They might disagree with you.

And I have personally seen blacks walking around in Beijing. Not many, mind you, but they’re there.

There is a psychological/subconcious mindset in our (Asian men’s) brains that heavily prefers lighter skinned women and children than darker skinned women and children. We also want to protect our culture and heritage, and since African women traits, such as curly hair and dark skin, tend to be dominant alleles, we shy away from them. It’s nothing personal, really.

You’re either being hyperbolic or naive, I can’t tell.

That’s far-fetched. You should probably provide sources when you start delving into the realm of psychoanalysis on HSL.

I was told that (in regards to China) it originated from the poor Chinese having darker colored skin from laboring in the sun all day, while the wealthier Chinese had lighter skin and protected themselves from the sun – so there’s some association with dark skin and that.

However, this is just what I vaguely recall someone telling me in passing, I don’t know how much truth (if any) is in there.

I’m pretty sure the OP is studying AM/BF pairs because the two groups are the “least desirable” in American society, as in, least likely to get married.

You see that in tons of societies. Anywhere where people naturally have light skin - all of Europe, China, Japan, more of Asia, many parts of India (even though lots of Indians have dark skin). It’s a more recent problem in African-American, Hispanic, and South American culture. But colorism needs to be overcome the same way any injustice does.

Not quite. I’m too lazy, so I’ll cite wikipedia:

It’s not far-fetched, because clearly Asian males prefer white females to black females in these statistics. My reasoning may be off because I can’t provide detailed evidence, but coming from personal, first hand experiences with talking to my friends and family, I can tell you that many more Asian guys prefer lighter skin than darker skin. Asians are generally a biased and prejudiced group, and I’m admitting that as an Asian.

ok, there may be one black person in china within a 200 mile radius, it’s pretty homogeneous
i’ve seen white people, hispanics, and indians in hong kong, but really can’t recall black people
but from living in china for a big chunk of my life, i can honestly say that i had never seen a black person until i came to the us!!

vinnyl is pretty much right, sadly =[ my grandparents still disapprove of “foreigners”

not trying to stereotype or be mean for no reason, but every black girl in my area (Texas) is just repulsive. you kno, the 200+ pounds of ignorancecombined with exceptionally loud/irritating conversation

vinnyl/pigs: lol really? I would say that most Chinese in China LOVE foreigners, regardless of skin color. And if the foreigner can speak Chinese, even remotely, the Chinese girls are allll over them lol. can’t say the same for foreign women to Chinese males, but the Chinese people in general find foreigners fascinating. oh and black people aren’t uncommon in Shanghai and Beijing, but definitely are everywhere else in China. just my 2 cents.

Staid: i really doubt that every black girl in your area is like you described, much less in all of Texas

^yeah but “foreigners” refers to “white people”

^ nope anyone. who’s not Chinese looking. black, white, hispanic, indian, southeast asian, etc. etc.

edit: from my experience.
