Interdisciplinary or 'designed' majors at Geneseo?

Here's a question for current Geneseo students: Is the faculty & admin open to interdisciplinary or self-designed majors? For example, there is no neurosciences department -- could a student create a major combining biology & psychology? Or American Studies? Or Women's Studies? How much flexibility is there from the faculty/admin for making these kinds of interdisciplinary connections? And does the student body seek out these opportunities?

They may not be the most open to a neurobiology major, but there is nothing stopping you from taking classes in both departments.

And we have American/Women/Black (all separate) Studies majors on campus. The Black Studies major is headed by an amazing prof who loves the program.

BigEast55 -- Is that because of the two depts themselves (bio & psych) or is it that the school as a whole is more traditional/rigid when it comes to academic ... 'creativity' or innovation?

mtnest2b-- I would call the school and ask to speak to someone in those departments. I have found that they are happy to help with these kinds of questions.
