My school has this major, and you can place emphasis on a certain subject. In my case it would be public administration or healthcare administration since this school does not offer an actual degree in either of the two.

Then I would continue on to a graduate school but the thing about it is the degree name, employers (while I am in school) most likely wont look into you courses taken and that kind of thing, they will see Interdisciplinary Studies with emphasis in Public Administration. Or something similar to that. Should I just go with an actual major they have there or would this be something to consider?

Does anyone have this degree and have any experiences they can share?

Is there more to the program?

NYU Gallatin offers a way for students to individualize their study and declare their own major. Does your school offer something similar to that? If so, then you can easily write in “Major: Public and Healthcare Administration.”

This school doesn’t have something like that, I asked them but the closest thing to it is interdisciplinary studies. I wish they had that, that would be perfect.

Honestly public admin is pretty much the same as sociology, do they have sociology? If so i would look at it instead of having the interdisciplinary study stigma… I know that many schools today have it, but it still is a little green to see how it will be treated. Are you planning on getting an MPA after public admin? if so i dont see that it matters because everyone just looks at you final degree… so if that is the case i would major in whatever was easiest and quickest.
