My son is a junior in high school and is interested in both Physics and Chemistry as well as theater. He's indicated that he would like to major in Physics or Chemistry and minor in Theater.

Does anyone have thoughts on schools that would best serve his interests?

Thanks.

Ironically enough, that's how I started, although I ended up switching from Physics to Theatre. (As I've written before, differential equations had something to do with that.) There are LAC's all over the country with outstanding science departments which also have very strong BA Theatre degree programs. One place to start is my alma mater, Pomona. Good luck!

Williams has very strong physics and chemistry departments as well as a wonderful theater program, both as a major and for kids who are just looking for extracurriculars. Like Pomona, however, it's very selective. I'd put Wesleyan in that group as well.

Kenyon is another with good science and theater, that's not quite as hard to get into.

Let us know a little more about your son's level of selectivity and geographic and size preferences and I'm sure we could come up some other recommendations.
