<p>Would it be possible at art schools like RISD, Art Center, CalARTs, University of Cinci., and SVA to major in two separate things like Digital/Web Design and Photography or Graphic Design and Industrial Design?</p>
<p>I have a lot of interests, but I don't know how if it's feasible to pursue more than one.</p>
<p>My daughter attends SVA, so I know a bit about their program. SVA, like most art schools, doesn't allow double majors. The intensity required for one major is generally enough. However, within many of the the majors students explore varying artistic disciplines. Graphic design majors at SVA can concentrate on web design. Fine arts majors can integrate a number of areas: including photography and video. There is an interior design program at SVA, but no formal industrial design program.</p>
<p>Really? That's kind of discouraging.</p>
<p>Art Center does not allow double majoring. The programs are focused and intense. I did two to three all-nighters per week for the first four terms, and I mean true all-nighters where you finish class one day, go straight home, work all the way until class the next morning (or afternoon) with no sleep breaks whatsoever. I'm sure it wasn't great for my health. I double majored at a state school and worked part-time, and it was nothing compared to a single major at Art Center. Seriously if you split your focus on two subjects there, you won't be very good at either. </p>
<p>However, Art Center does have a relationship with Caltech that I did take advantage of. We were allowed to take one Caltech class per term if we were on a full-time schedule at Art Center, and I took 3 classes there. I was one of very few to take advantage of it, and I kept it pretty minimum.</p>
