interest tracking?

Quick question: do colleges (especially the highly selective ones) track interest anymore (if ever)? As in, does showing interest, such as contacting them, asking to be on their mailing list, etc. increase one's chance of admissions?

If so, I'm curious about the following schools:
Brown
Case Western
Swarthmore
Haverford
University of Chicago
Northwestern
Amherst
Rice
Union
University of Rochester

Thanks.

what does that mean

`

Giving you brownie points for making excessive contact :)

If you haven't demonstrated any interest yet, the schools that do track such info may not consider it to be genuine.

Union does track interest. Northwestern and Rochester require that you write about why "our school essay" which may be a way to separate those who who demonstrate interest.

If you signed in for info sessions/tours, etc.... the school has a record of such contacts.
