Interest?

How much does ND care about showing interest? D hasn’t visited yet, wondering if it will hurt her in RD. Thanks.

Depends how far you live from campus: more than a few hours? don’t sweat it. In south bend? that’ll show a massive lack of interest. If you are far away, she should still try to go to a Notre Dame info session when they’re in her area, or contact the admissions department with specific questions. It probably wouldn’t make or break an application, but if it’s a close call, they’ll definitely select students that showed more interest over ones who hadn’t make an effort to reach out.

Don’t bother. ND instead looks for these these 3 things: top 1% of your class, 1500+ SAT (out of 1600) AND your child must demonstrate that she gives back (i.e volunteering via essays and EC’s).

If you look at the common data set (https://www3.nd.edu/~instres/CDS/2013-2014/CDS_2013-2014.pdf) section C6, you’ll see the most important is rigor of school, importance is GPA, SAT’s, rank and volunteering. Interest is only considered.

I would definitely visit if you’ve been accepted.
