I am a high school senior. I’m taking SAS Programming 1 this semester and I am really loving it. I understand the material and I have scored high on all of the tests so far. In high school, I have only taken regular math classes. I will take my first honors math class next semester (Pre-Calc). I have gotten an A in all of the classes, but I wouldn’t necessarily say that I am good at it or that I truly understand it.
The only college major that I am finding that involves programming is computer science. I know that computer science is more than just programming, but I am unsure of what other major to turn to. The problem is that computer science involves a lot of math. I’m afraid of going to school for it and not being able to get anywhere because of the math involved.
Currently, I’m interested in being a web developer. I’ve read that you can be a self-taught web developer, but I think that I would still like to explore different programming languages and career paths in college.
Could anyone give some advice on if going into computer science would be a poor decision or not? Maybe recommend some other majors to me that relate to web development or programming in general?
