Hi, I am a rising senior and am having some difficulty trying to narrow down t what schools to apply to… I am interested in biochemistry with the hopes of going to med school someday however I am not the greatest at math. For reference, my lowest SAT section score is a 700 in math (out of a 2220 overall) and I have been struggling to get past a 740 on my Math 2 subject test. I have however gotten mostly As with an occasional B in all the math classes I have taken (the highest level class being AP Calculus AB). I have struggled quite a bit to reach those grades though. Considering my low math SAT score while also considering my uw gpa of 3.9 and weighed of 4.75, do you have any advice on where I should consider applying/ what schools to avoid? I would really appreciate any thoughts!
There’s no such thing as a premed major. You can be an anthropology major and apply to med school. You just need to do well on the MCAT and have a high GPA in any major.
Although most med schools require 2 semesters of calculus, higher math is almost entirely absent in medical school. The most you might need to know is some statistics and basic algebra. So don’t worry
Wrong^ @sgopal2 Not even harvard Med school requires 2 semesters of calculus. If you take Calc 1 and stats, you’re good
