Interested in CHE- Chances?

I am very interested in the College of Human Ecology and currently plan to apply early decision. Any input would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

ACT: 30 (superscored 32)
SAT Subject Tests: Biology- 700, US History- 700 (will be taking Math 2)
AP: Envi Sci- 5, US History- 4, Spanish Lang- 4
GPA: 3.51 (high school does not weight APs or Honors)
(Please note that my high school is notorious for grade deflation. Its average GPA accepted to Cornell is 3.7 with one acceptance as low as a 3.3.)

Varsity Rowing Team- 5 seasons (4 varsity), MVP soph year, also coached (unpaid) twenty low income girls who had never rowed before, additionally taught (unpaid) rowing and ecology to another group of middle schoolers, overall I’ve put in over 800 hours into my rowing club
Wind Ensemble / Marching Band- clarinetist, numerous awards, squad leader
Varsity Ice Hockey Team – 2 seasons (both varsity), led effort to create a team at my high school
Also did substantial volunteer work for my local library and earned a very high honor as a Girl Scout

I think you have good chance of getting in ED (RD may be a reach) although I can’t say for sure since I don’t know your class rank. What I do know is that Cornell puts quite a bit of emphasis on grades/test scores (but mostly grades) and less on ECs. That being said, your ACTs and SAT IIs are pretty good so you definitely have a chance.

It seems like you’ve put a lot of time into your rowing club. Are you planning on Rowing in college? If so I’d definitely say to contact the coach or fill out one of the recruiting questionaires on the athletics website. Speaking from experience being a recruited (or even prospective) athlete can really give you a foot in the door when it comes to admissions, especially in a more obscure sport like rowing where rosters are hard to fill.
