I have a wide variety of interests including stats, physics, and econ. I was looking around for a major that would satisfy these interests and came up with Industrial Engineering.

Is this generally a good major, or does it lead to having to job opportunities?

OR is about the theory behind the optimization processes that IEs use software to manage.

There have been a number of IE posts in the past several days. I never majored in IE, never took an IE course, so I have not felt like a good person to reply.

I do work in Operations Research and have an OR degree. In fact, I'm going for a PhD in Systems Engineering Operations Research.

OR and Systems Engineering both lead to spectacular job opportunities. IE is a bit spotty.

Of course, if you start loading in all that advanced math, the courses are going to get harder.
