Interested in engineering major

Hi, I'm a high school senior deciding what field in engineering I want to go in.

I'm also a pre-med that has to take all the pre-reqs for med. school (english, bio, chem, physics, calculus, and organic chemistry)

I'm interested in computers and learning everythign there is about them, and I'm a quick learner using operating systems but I never really understand the codes and statements a lot of these programs/systems/etc. I'm also interested in the hardware aspects of computers but once again i don't really understand the terminology with computers (like buses, the CISC architecture, RISC architecture, compiling kernels, whatever).

I'm also interested in automobiles, and electronics in general and was wondering what type of major would be best for me?

One more thing, engineering is probably the toughest major out there, I was wondering how hard it is to maintain a great gpa like 3.6/4.0 (med. school requirements), especially at an enginering school like Case Western or RPI?

It seems from your post that you don't really have a good idea of what you want to do with your life. My best advice to find something that you really love. It seems as if being a doctor is secondary to all of your other interests. If you are really set on being a doctor, I don't think it would be such a hard decision to choose your future major. I came into college thinking that I would be an engineer too, but half way through the year I came to the realization that engineering wasn't really what I wanted to do with my life, so I switched from Bioengineering to molecular and cell biology. For the computer relalated major, I would try either electrical engineering or computer science, but I have to warn you that a lot of people who think they like computers end up switching out. For the automobiles, try mechanical engineering.

well i like medicine but the great thing about med school is that all i have to do is complete my pre-reqs in undergrad, and i can major in anything i want. that said, most people major in biology, but a lot of people major in fields that they like, such as anthro., oplitics, english, chem, engineering.

some reasons why I want to do engineering 1) i excel in the sciences and maths 2) i don't want to study bio or chem extensively in college 3) it seems practical in real-life 4 )

go to the top bar on this page, and pull down the "search" one. Type in "premed engineering" and you can find plenty of posts in which this has been discussed extensively.

Engineering pre-med is excessive and unnecessary, in my opinion. Pick one or the other. Why do an insane engineering courseload and then have to do a hard courseload at med school? Right now I'm debating whether to do a 7 year accelerated dental program or go to RPI as an undeclared engineering major. I'm leaning in favor of RPI.

no, i think you should for the combined program for dentistry

why?
1) you got a guarantee to be successfull and you can be confident about that
2) in those 3 years you will be taking pre-dent requirements (which are the same as pre-med requirements). If those grades are high (3.6+), then drop out of the program and go m.d. you wil get the m.d. if you meet this

rpi on the other hand will be harder, because you have to work your ass off as an engineer.

now that i think of it, engineering would be nice and all, but I am interested in neuroscience and anthropology.

perhaps i can major in computer science and minor in anthro?
