Interested in finance/economics/etc...what should I do to show this interest to College Apps?

Hello everyone,

I am currently a Junior aspiring to get into a school of business at an Ivy or other top tier school. I understand that PERFECT candidates to these schools get declined all the time, but nevertheless, I'm gonna keep pushing and elaborating on my interests in the hopes I might get into a few. Here's my question:

I'm VERY interested in stocks, finance, economics and the like. I've been doing lots of stock simulators and researching this sort of thing. I want to form an Extracurricular that shows this interest (note, I'm NOT doing this JUST for college apps, but I'm genuinely interested in this. I'm just trying to figure out what would be the best EC since I'd like any option below). I'm considering at the moment of trying to:

Day trade with real money, and make good returns. Talk about this in college essays.

Form an FBLA Charter (there is only 1 in the entire county, and my school would very much appreciate a chapter being made)

Form an investment club/stock market club on campus. The club would focus the intricacies of investing, and we could compete in virtual stock games, etc.

What should I do? All three? Any advice?

Thanks!

You’re mistaken if you need to show some stupendous pre-Donald Trump image to selective schools in order to be accepted. They want students who are hungry learners and have the creativity and self-direction and self-security to be STARTLING to their instructors and fellow students.

Asking for strangers for advice on what clubs to form or how to appear does not link with what I’ve just written. My best advice to you? Be genuine. If you can’t do that, be good at math. I’ll tell you what it’s not: aping others and trying to shoehorn yourself into what you think is an image of a viable top school applicant.

Okay, I understand what you’re saying. Thank you for your advice! The college applications process sometimes gets people caught up the “Give them what they want”, instead of doing what YOU want. I definitely get caught up in that quite a bit.

Thanks again!
