Im a class of '06 High School. I attended a few classes at a community college, not sure what i want to do.

But i think i know what i want to do. I want to work in the Game Industry. I love playing Video Games, so i want to do something related to what i love. But im not sure what kind of college i should be looking at.

Im looking at the Academy of Arts in San Fransisco if i decide to go down the Game Graphics area. But i was also thinking about Game Development and Design. I think thats where i'd rather be, instead of creating art.

But what degree would i want to get? My dream is to work at Lucas Arts/Lucas Films, or BioWare (game company).

I was reading the Lucas Arts careers, under Engineering for Game Development, for requirements, they want a B.Sc in Computer Science. If i want to become a Video Game developer or designer, should i look into getting a B.Sc in Computer Science? What college has the best Computer Science program?

Carnegie Mellon is generally considered the best for computer science, but there are many other excellent choices - search for previous threads about this topic. RIT has just introduced a Bachelor's degree in Game Development you might want to check out. If you want less of a traditional college education, then maybe you should look at Digipen.

Game designers definitely need a background in computer science, so look for schools with strong CS programs. Also try and get some internships so you can put your skills to work. Of course you can also get into the business side, like go to a communications school and do PR for a big company.

My uncle owns his own gaming company. He definitely has a strong background in programming, art, and business. Even though he isn't involved so much in the actual programming, knowing how to do it definitely helps him manage his team. I think doing CS with a focus on game development will prepare you best for a job in the industry, even if you want to go more into management.
