Hi guys so I'm in my junior year and really starting to seriously think about college. I am
set on majoring in public relations as I would like to work as a pr specialist or like
do image management in the sports or entertainment world. My family has a long running legacy at U of M but I have always had my heart set on leaving the north and going down south or California. My dream school is USC but even though money isn't a huge issue for my family, USC is just unbelievably astronomical. I go to a rigorous private school, currently have a 3.85 gpa ( our grading scale is a bit weird since we don't have "+" or "-"), took all honors sophomore year but decided to not continue on the honors course for science courses for junior year. Other than that I take all honors and AP. I play lacrosse and am in NHS and other clubs. I also am in Spanish 4 as a junior and intend to minor in spanish in college. I will have accumulated over 100 service hours by the time I graduate. I got a 29 on my ACT but am gonna retake it in hopes of getting 30 or over. Sorry I realize this was quite the lengthy background. Basically I want to know what SEC and Cali schools I could get into and have good, successful communications programs. From my research, I really like UGA. I also love university of Florida but I realize how hard it is to get into. I also like bama and hear its communications school is great but the fact that it's pretty easy to get into kinda bothers me. I would love to get some help on this. Thank you:)

Please realize that some of the Out of State Public Universities you are looking at may cost close to USC’s price. Go to the Net Price Calculator of each school to see what it will cost, then have a long talk with your parents about what they are willing to pay.

Alabama has a highly ranked PR program. Usually ranked within the top 5.

If you get an ACT 30 or SAT 1330 (M+CR) then you’d get a substantial scholarship as long as you also have a 3.5 GPA and apply before Dec 1st. App opens in July. If you apply in July, you’d have your acceptance probably by August.

Thank you! Yeah ill definitely have to do those calculator things on the website. I’ve already accumulated a decent amount of scholarship money because of contests and what not, but I have read multiple places about UA’s great pr program and I did more research on what you said about their out of state scholarships so I’m really leaning towards UA right now.

Be sure to take a look at Chapman University in southern CA, and their highly ranked Dodge College. The PR program is excellent, with a Warner Bros. PR exec at the helm. Chapman is a private school but your scores should earn you good merit aid.
