Interesting clubs/activities at UVA? Suggest a few for us first-years please! :)

Hello people, I've been looking at the various organizations available at UVA here: The Student Activities Center in Newcomb Hall

Of course I can sift through 601 of them one by one, but then even most of the descriptions are pretty short and they don't tell you much about what they do. I'm sure that some of you who are already there will know more about them; which ones are favorites, which ones are interesting, which ones are hidden gems among the 601 organizations. I know that each of us has different interests and passions, but it's always good to have more insight about the clubs at UVA!

For myself, I am an international students looking for more leadership/organizational experience, and I'm also interested in finance-related clubs (aspiring I-Banker? Hahaha). I am also open for any random suggestions 'cos I'd like to try out new things too! :) I'm sure the other first-years will benefit from this as well.

Many thanks in advance! :) :)

Phi Beta Kappa:

plan early ;)

Finance related clubs: you can check out Alpha Kappa Psi, or some of the specific clubs in the Comm school.

But really, don't worry about it yet. We'll have a huge student activities fair in the first two weeks of school. You'll get introduced to all of the clubs them. I did the whole sifting through clubs thing and threw my list out after the activities fair.

There's an investment club that's open to anyone, and I believe there are some other similar clubs related to finance as well. The best way to see which organizations fit you best would be during the activities fair! It's held usually a week after the start of classes and it's a day where the organizations all come out to promote themselves. All first-years MUST go because it's such a blast seeing the myriad of organizations that exist in UVA.

I would also imagine that you'd like to consider other things that are not finance-related. Do you like sports? Or politics? If you'd like to take on new things, I'd be happy to tell you which organizations are great based on your suggestions. Also, is there anything you'd like to continue doing while you were in high school?

interesting enough, peyton manning was a pbk. (then again, he's just amazing. :))
