Interesting Dilemma - ACT Science

So I'm retaking the ACT this Saturday. Some background information - on my first ACT I received a 32; however, had I received a 34 on the science section I would have a 34 overall.

So my dilemma is this: I CAN get a 36 on the Science section, because I've done it before. In the Red book, I took all the section individually, but in the required amount of time, and I got a 36 on the last two tests in the book (there's three total).

But when I have taken the full length test, I received a 28. The same happened when I took a practice one offered by my school for free. I think this is because it is the last section and you need to answer the questions with alacrity. Is there anyway to combat mental fatigue so I can get at least a 34 on the section?

Take it really light on the practice tests from now until Saturday, and instead spend the time visualizing your not being mentally fatigued. :)

Haha sounds good.

When I took the ACT, the proctor gave us a break in the middle of the test. Hopefully if you have a break it will help you out.

The break is required.

So that means when the OP took it before they had a break. So I guess it didn’t help then if you find you’re getting tired by the time the Science section comes around.

I guess just try and stay focused the best you can… just think about your goal. That always helps me.

Stay focused and keep your mind clear. even if you struggle with a particular question/section don’t let it affect your attitude/make you doubt yourself.

Don’t spend too much time on one question either. Not only does it eat up time, but it may wear you out faster if you think too hard about one question. Answer what comes more easily first.

Thanks guys for the responses! I think I got a 36 this time on the science section. I’, feeling really good about it and the test in general. It’s even a possibility that I got a 36 composite. I can’t say for sure though, and even if I got a 33, I would be happy. Thanks!
