Interesting Findings at Chicago Unifieds

So, Asst, you’re saying that if I had gone into Beef and Brandy, which I nearly did, I would not be able to get steak, which is why I almost went in there? Breakfast all day and doughnuts? What a misleading name!! LOL

Speaking of weird eateries near the Palmer House, did anyone else try Vaipano which was right across the street? My D and I ended up there after first going to Macy’s to the seven on state food court and finding it closed for dinner! Argh. So we tried this Vaipano’s which I have to say is a strange business idea. You are given a card and then you go line up for the type of food you want, salad, pizza or pasta, and then a cook makes the food to order for you. We got in two different pasta lines and waited. and waited. And remember, we aren’t waiting at our table with a nice glass of wine and some bread. We’re standing in a kitchen area, waiting. All I could think was if I wanted to stand around a kitchen I could do this at home for free. Finally after 15 minutes it was our turn to have our pasta cooked. You use the card for the chef to ring your food up. The food was good, but no better than food you order that mysteriously appears from the kitchen on its own. Yet the restaurant was very crowded. You also had to go to the bar yourself and get your own drink.
We just didn’t get the appeal.

Changing the donut talk for a minute… on the old CC we could see “All Posts” by someone. Is that no longer
an option? I am not adjusting well to this new format- but so thrilled to hear about all of the wonderful things happening for all of your kids. Keeping fingers crossed for mine- one more audition (Chapman) and D is done. Hoping I will sleep again come April.

The D went to Vaipano with one of her friends. She only said that it was pretty cheap and tried to get me to go the next day. I’m glad that I didn’t.
If you click on the person’s name, you can still see posts, but it’s called “replies”.

My D and I went there. I agree, very strange business model. The food was okay, nothing special.

@GSOMTMom, you could definitely get some sort of steak too. We ate dinner there one night and it was…um…well, let’s just say they have great donuts!

HA!! Okay, then I’m really glad that I kept on walking past B&B!

What was the deal with the elevators. It took forever to catch one between floors.

They’re just notoriously slow! We had no problems until Monday when the wait times were so long! They need to have a display like they have in some subway stations with an ETA!! LOL

Agree the elevators were very slow. Probably too many people for the number of cars. We would sometimes take an elevator from a different bank and then climb up or down a flight of stairs. Figured it was quicker than waiting, especially since were were on the group of floors served by only 3 elevators.
