Well I took a practice SAT test. The first one in the college board book. I wrote a great essay, as far as first timers go, and going through the rubric I got between a 7-9 (I just said 8 to make life easier). In the end my score was as follows:
CR:530
M:610
W:590

1730 in the end

I did this blindly, as in I haven't studied yet minus making notecards (haven't gone through them yet). First off how incredibly bad is this (be harsh lol)?

I plan on really starting to study in the summer, but when I'm free these next couple months I'm going to be loosely looking at stuff, and once finals come, I'll put the SATs aside for a little bit. I don't want to indulge in hardcore studying yet, because quite frankly, I've got time, and I would much rather take my time in learning the test, inside and out. I really want to get all my scores up, and math I want to get to the 700s...CR into the 600s, and writing I'm sure will improve as I go over grammar, I went through the test, and my mistakes we're just stupid ones that are avoidable(refering to writing here). Anyway are these reasonable goals? Of course getting my CR and Writing scores into the 700s are dreams too, but is this do-able considering my first real SAT will either be next January, or in May/June (2011)?

Easily achievable with practice.

i had 4xx first time writing but got 7xx in the end. imo, writing is the easiest to improve.

you can do it!

edit: hey! you’re still a sophomore so you’re definitely fine.

A 1730 is ~75th percentile. I’m glad I’m not in your position; 75th to 95th percentile is a huge jump.

wow two users with potato in their usernames. thats interesting.

Anyway, it is a huge jump, but I figure with the huge amount of time I have, it is possible. And as a dry run, I don’t know how this matches up. I never studied before, but I did take the SATs in 8th grade as part of a talent search thing. Other then that I went in clueless…Hopefully I can get to that 95th percentile…a 2100 would be awesome.

“Practice makes perfect, so perfect your practice!”

You can do it I am looking for a bigger jump than you (from about 67th percentile) to the 90’s.

I have the same amount of time as you also, we can do it :)

Combination effort! After my cruise next week, I’m going to be going through my answers, and one question really annoyed me how they set the diagram up, so ill be posting a few questions on the forum…Anyway, jollybjolly, we will be in that 90th percentile lol!

Very much so. This test can be studied for. I’m talking from my own experience.
