Universities do give “personal attention” randomly. It really is a matter of luck. And that personal attention ends up making all the difference in the World. I can tell you there are few universities I would place on the same level as Michigan and Cornell is one of them. Of course, my also being an alumnus of Cornell has nothing to do with my high regard for the university! hehe! You will have a great time there.

Oh I definitely plan on it. Haha. I would have been happy at either Cornell, UMich, or McGill, but Cornell is where I ended up. I can only choose one school, and it ended up being Cornell.

I’m a national merit scholar, got a 34 on the ACT and have a 4.3 GPA and got rejected by Cornell and still haven’t heard from Michigan. But, I’m not Native American.

That article is ridiculous. Allow me to translate the Mary Sue “diversity” speak into plain english.

“it’s part of an ongoing effort to select a balanced mix of freshmen for next year.
‘You’re trying to pick. You’re trying to make an outstanding class,’ Coleman says.” = Can’t have too many white people coming to Michigan, that would be…not outstanding.

“The goal is a class typically ranging between 5,300 to 5,600 students that is academically, regionally, economically and ethnically diverse. ‘We don’t want everyone to be a cookie-cutter kind of kid,’ says Ted Spencer.” = Those white kids are just too plain for our tastes. We need colors! But throw in some BS about ‘academically, regionally, economically’ diverse to distract from our racism.

Bottom line: if you’re a white male, Mary Sue has no time for you.

I got in and I’m a White male (atleast that’s what I applied as).

I didn’t say none slipped through. ;)

Thats right. But why this is riciculous is beyond me…
