Ok,
For a long while i have been thinking how the people of CC study. I was amazed to see many people get 2000+ on their SATs and 800s on their SAT IIs. AS a result i have made this thread where those people will hopefully emerge and tell us their study routines. By study routines, i do not mean what books you use or tutoring companies you attend. Studying routines is what you do at home when trying to study for important tests such as the SAT. Please contribute to this. Here is some of the questions i had in mind:

-How do you deal with distractions? or noises?
-How long do you study in one day?
-How do you concentrate on the work and not jump of to do something else?
-Do you consider yourself a good test taker?
-What do you eat when studying (not that i really care :D) does it distract you from studying?
-How do you deal with those times when you think that you have wasted another day doing nothing?
-How do you keep your mind on the book?
-What is your defination of EFFECTIVE studying?

If you have anything else to contribute that is not asked just post it here.

Well I don't consider myself a "good" test taker but since I'm gonna procrastinate some more (there you go) before I start on AP Physics...I'll put in my two cents:

-How do you deal with distractions? or noises?
Go away to somewhere where it's quiet. I can't really "deal with it" if it gets too overwhelming.
-How long do you study in one day?
Schooltime: 3 hours - 4 hours. Summer: 2 hours on average/day.
-How do you concentrate on the work and not jump of to do something else?
Force myself not to think about anything else. Also eliminate all distractions by studying in a "study room" outside. (I think you can find those in libraries too).
-Do you consider yourself a good test taker?
Like I said, I only think I'm okay. I tend to guess well though.
-What do you eat when studying (not that i really care ) does it distract you from studying?
Nothing...I just drink colossal amounts of water. =P
-How do you deal with those times when you think that you have wasted another day doing nothing?
I feel really bad and make a commitment to myself that I will study at least x hours tomorrow. I tend to force myself to keep the commitments I make so it works.
-How do you keep your mind on the book?
Don't look up? HAHA. Just don't think about anything else.
-What is your defination of EFFECTIVE studying?
Thoughts engaged, fully focused in one's work for at least two hours. I think that's enough studying for a day if one can focus enough.

wow thats deep. Thanks for taking your time to write this. I sometimes do the same thing but it gets quite difficult at times. Also, there are distractions whenever you expect them least. Keep those nice inputs coming. Thanks again people!
