So today I got my September ACT back and got a 31 Composite so I was pretty ****ed off and thought that my chances of Brown PLME was pretty much nonexistant.

However, I called the PLME representative for the South-East, and according to him, last year’s PLME freshman class had an ACT range of 29-33, yet the SAT range was much harsher and selective. According to him, a lot of ppl with very high ACT and SAT scores get rejected because they want all the PLME participants to be “equal” in ability.

Just an interesting statistic, because I was under the impression that in order to get into PLME, you pretty much HAVE to have a 33-34.

I think it could be because many people who apply to PLME are from the northern states and take the SAT, thus making the SAT scores harsher. There's also the fact that there is a lot of SAT prep out there. I never see as much ACT prep, but it might just be my location.

Also, each entering PLME class is only 50-60, and the majority of those probably take the SAT... so the ACT sample size could be small enough to have a lot of "noise" in it.

when is the application due for Brown PLME

hm true, either way, it seems that sending only the ACT is pretty advantageous.

Of course, just because you're in the range doesn't mean you're gonna get in, since it's only a 5.5% acceptance rate.

I think essays are EXTREMELY EXTREMELY crucial, as they're not looking for geniuses, but people who really want to become doctors at all costs.
