Interesting topic on Race and College Apps

Hey guys, I am a completely white American but I have an interesting situation.

My Grandma was born and raised in Morocco (North West Africa). She is genetically of French decent, meaning she isn't black.

Anyways, does this make me 1/4 African American? Can I put this on my college application?

Thanks.

Morocco isn’t part of black Africa, if I recall correctly. Black Africa is south of the Sahara Desert.

I do realize it isn’t part of black Africa, and yes you are right Lorem. My question is, is my grandma considered 100% African?

If she is 100% African, that makes me 25% African. Am I still allowed to put African-American/White on my college app?

No you’re not African-American. You can only be African-American if you have SUB-SAHARAN (or Caribbean/some parts of South American) heritage. Morocco is not sub-Saharan, it’s essentially Arabic.

Select white and nothing else on your app.
