Interim Program

Can somebody explain me in detail about St. Olaf Interim program? And also for how long does Interim program takes place?

If you are talking about the J term, it runs the month of January…which is when you want to be out of Minnesota anyways!

You have to do interim 3 out of 4 years. Freshman with a very few exceptions must do an on campus program. You take one intensive class. There are many study abroad options available both classes lead by St. Olaf professors and some through approved organizations. They are actual classes for credit. My D did a program last winter in South America and loved it! It was a really great experience. Here older friends clued her in that Sophomores are on the bottom of the registration totem pole for interim so it’s harder to get the class that you want. That makes it a good time to go away. Applications are due some time in late winter I think for the following year. Upper classmen can also do internship and shadowing things, I believe. There has to be an official plan, though. There is a break after interim and regular classes start back up during the first or just after the first week of February.
