Interior Design at VT - Any Insight?

My son is applying to a number of schools with highly regarded interior design programs, including VT. He visited VT in the spring and absolutely loved everything about the school, from the campus to the students to the ID program. It is among his top choices. He is also looking at Syracuse, Cornell, Pratt, Drexel, and U of Cincinnati.

Design Intelligence just came out with their 2010 rankings for the top Interior Design schools and VT was not in the top 10 for the first time since 2006. Anybody have any insight or thoughts as to why? Anybody have any insights into the ID program at VT and how it compares to other schools?

JWWS,

I just looked at the daily email I receive from VT and this article was there this morning. In it there is some information about the interior design program, for both undergrad and graduate. It stated that the undergrad program was ranked number four in the category of programs most admired by deans and dept chairs across the US and was cited for “the quality of its faculty and students and balancing design excellence with professional preparation.”

I think you can’t go wrong with any of the programs in CAUS, they are all strong. Here is the link for you and your son to take a look at. Hope this helps! And good luck in your search!
