Looks nice. Find a way to get rid of that threshold!

No experience with this brand of tile over pans, posting for the photo:

The wood trim at the top? Yeah, don’t need that…color inside could be different too, but just like the idea of a bog spacious shower where I can walk in one side and out the other-ha. I will settle for something similar with once entrance which is what we have now with 2 shower heads and not as large.

Does anyone have a waterfall or rainfall shower head? Not sure what it is called but it is big and from the ceiling. We had one at a hotel once or twice and I feel like it was confusing to use easily, but maybe it just takes getting used to it? I’m sure there was some user error. It seems cool in theory but wondering if great in daily use.

Ohhhh-I like that shower pan-thank you for a visual. I do like tile or the look of tile. H mentioned a shower pan but I thought that just meant a basic plastic look.

Another design idea: a covered deck pre-plumbed for gas firepit or firetable. We find that we like to eat on the deck all summer long and even in the winter when it is not too cold. My husband dreams of the day when we have to resurface the deck so he can hire someone to run a gas line to our firetable. For now, we have to change propane tanks, which is a minor PITA.

H looked into that I think. We have 2 grill tanks so we never run out and alternate using them.

IMO, those rainfall heads don’t do any good. We have one sticking out of the wall (was installed by the previous owners)… we always use the “regular” showerhead.

More ways to do curbless showers. (I love ours.) Curbless Showers | Schluter

I hate rain shower heads. You just get water in your eyes.

Ok-thank! I was wondering if I was doing something wrong in the shower. Seems cool in theory but I will probably pass on the rainfall shower head.

This thread (and the other home renovation threads here) are so much fun! We’re in the preliminary phase of a massive renovation/addition and the collective wisdom from posters on this forum has helped me make several decisions.
We’re working with an architect, I am also a designer by training, yet this project has been quite daunting!

Something that helps me, I look for something to spark my inspiration for different aspects of the design and find that it really helps me envision what I would like in the space. As an example, I have a painting of a flower arrangement that we bought for our 10th wedding anniversary. I’m using that to decide the colors and feel of our master bedroom.

I’m currently working on our kitchen design board and found these that I had pinned for ideas.

That walkthrough shower looks amazing but H wants a tub as well and we don’t have the space to do both. As for rain showers, I too would like it in our shower but worry if it is as functional as a regular one. I have this pinned but am balking at the price.

My bil bought a new house that has a walk through shower, it’s very cool. His takes up a lot of room.

My kid had these types of shower tower in their apartment. It actually worked pretty nifty.

I would think with a walk through shower you would need a lot of hot water and sprayers to keep warm. We like an enclosed space just because it’s warmer. But that’s personal preference

It looks amazing… but I bet you will be reaching for that little showerhead on the right most of the time.

Cool photos! We decided to go without a tub in the master since we don’t use it but will put a more modest one in one of the other bathrooms.

One thought about the ceiling in the pictures you linked: the all-wood ceiling makes the room look darker and sort of “upside down”
and appears lower than it is. A painted ceiling with wood beams would look better, IMO.

An interesting look, but I would lean more toward accenting the ceiling with wood beams or maybe not at all-just white ceiling. That might be an area to cut costs for me.

Yeah, I don’t see that overpriced rain shower making it into the final design. Everyone I’ve talked to about it has had reservations and I’ve read the same here now. But darn it, it just looks so cool! Maybe dual shower heads will be just as good.

Regarding the kitchen photos, I had pinned those photos as an example of layered cabinetry look with different styles of shelves & drawers, dark trim with white cabinets and also for the dark soapstone countertop. I saw those as I was going through my saved photos and thought of this thread.

Not a fan of wooden ceilings — that would be overwhelming in my kitchen. But, I currently have an all white kitchen with beige counters, a look that I dislike so I need to put together many different ideas to create a kitchen that would make me happy to cook in. I’ll see if I can find a photo that comes close to what I’m envisioning.

I think they mean (and I agree with the suggestion!) delete the threshold at the base of the shower, so if someone needs to use a walker, or shower stool there isn’t a barrier there.

Separately I would also consider how warm or cold this bathroom will be before having a large opening like that. These types of open showers are great in hot climates, but can be really chilly with cooler temperatures. (Plus your mirrors are foggy and you’ll have more humidity to contend with in your exhaust fan situation to think about.) I tend to “run cold” and so I avoid open showers but other people love them - it’s really a personal preference!

Same; I find rain shower heads to be the absolute pits. The water and soap goes in your eyes, and I find them even more unpleasant being 5’2" where it truly does feel like I’m just standing in the rain, trying to get clean.

I far prefer the handheld shower head on a vertical bar where each person can easily change the height of the shower head. Plus it’s a lot easier to clean the shower with a handheld, and if down the line you need to help someone shower or be showered - having a handheld makes this much easier.
