I would have taken some pictures of Butler dorm rooms this weekend, but I wouldn't have felt right about posting them without the permission of the people whom those dorms belong to.

Although Butler is certainly not the most asthetically appealing dorm at first sight, a little bit of effort can go a long way. The host I stayed with was fairly messy, and it basically augmented the ugliness of Butler, but I saw several other dorms that were clean, organized and decorated (to some extent), and I didn't find any problem whatsoever with them.

question... is there a piano in every common room, or is thjust a Mathey thing?

I never saw any pianos in the Butler suites, so it's definitely not in every room. I can't remember whether or not I saw one in Forbes...

Hehe, there's a difference between a suite/quad common room, and a residential college common room. There probably isn't anyone with a piano in their suite common room, but every res college common room has a piano. There are also music practice rooms elsewhere.

When I visited Mathey/Butler/Wilson area, I saw dance studios as well!! :D

Haha, whoops - that's true, frozen-tears.

In any case, I saw one of the Butler common rooms (apparently all are different) and it most certainly did not have a piano. :)

The Butler common room in Wu Hall right outside the college office has a piano.

muchas gracias to frozen tears. your pictures reassured me that there is great housing at Princeton. I joined the Princeton class of 2010 this morning by faxing in my acceptance. I am very happy about it and really looking forward to coming.

awesome... welcome, mel!

glad you're joining us, mel! :D
