Interlochen Arts Academy- Financial Aid

I’m interested in attending Interlochen Arts Academy for my senior year in 2016. However, the main roadblock for my family is tuition- the basic tuition and boarding cost is $58,630. While my family would be considered middle to upper-middle class, there is no way that we could afford it without significant financial aid. I’m concerned that even if I were offered financial aid to where I would only have to pay 1/5 of the cost, I would be unable to.

Would a past or current student/parent of a student be able to share their experience with financial aid as well as how they afforded the cost? Thank you.

My D graduated last year. She got a music merit scholarship but no FA due to our income level. They do have some grants but they are need based. We just “sucked it up” and paid it. I will say it was worth the money. For us, the college scholarships she received more than covered what we paid for her to attend IAA. Be sure to talk to IAA before you give up on the idea of going.
