Intermediate accounting, I don't think I did well.

Exam 1 - class average is 58, with 60 students.

I just did my final, and I'm expecting a low 2.x gpa for the class. However my two other classes I'm expecting a 3.5-3.6 (I work full time)
Ive never done so bad in a class before, I'm nervous, I'm afraid it will pull my overall gpa below a 3.5

Anyone else experience this in intermediate axcounting

Intermediate accounting wasn’t too bad. The averages on exams were always fairly low, but I always thought that was because people didn’t put the time in to truly study/understand the material. Whenever I put the time in, I received very good grades. When I didn’t (Intermediate 2) my scores were on the lower side.

Put in the time kid.

I think it’s a function of effort, but also the design of the course. I know for me, my intermediate accounting class was heavily graded based on a semester long audit and financial reporting project, so most grades didn’t come out so well before the curve. Intermediate Accounting I (for those who have two levels of intermediate) tests also are typically the hardest you’ll take in accounting, due to a lack of real understanding of the logic behind some of the technical aspects and not being used to some difficult tests.

I wouldn’t stress out too much about not performing greatly in this class, even if you plan on majoring in accounting or pursuing it as a career. Most of the Big 4 partners, CFOs, etc. that I have talked to recount their Intermediate days with misery and are happy to share that they barely scraped by with a C in the class.
