I'm looking for a part-time job while in a 5 year MArch program. Does anyone know what qualifications firms are looking for? Or would they not want to hire part-time employees? I don't have a lot of real world experience when it comes to construction or working in an Arch office. I've also done searches for jobs in my area and can't find anything...not even a part-time AutoCAD job in an Arch firm. I'm desperate enough to get experience that I've considered opening up a phone book and calling A-Z firms until I find something.

Are you looking for part-time work while in school, or for the summer break? Either way I would think the school you are enrolled in has an office with staff that could help you. Part of the reason my son enrolled in the program he is in is because of the mandatory employment in arch during summers.

I'm looking for permanent work, maybe CAD at an Architect office for the reminder of time I'm in school. Then I'd like to start IDP with them or someone else as soon as possible. I'm not a typical student, I'm 27. I went to college years ago and dropped out. Now I'm back and I was accepted to a great M.Arch program. I don't know about the staff helping with job placement but that would be nice. I'll look in to that.
