Hi, as you may know already international students have two options to choose: one is the SAT + 2 SAT sub tests, and the other is the TOEFL + 2 SAT sub tests. Since I come from a Spanish speaking country with a low percentage of bilingualism, I should choose the second option. However, I have some doubts about that such as can I submit both? or is it better to choose the second option?
@Mrduque By both, do you mean submit the SAT, TOEFL, and subject tests?
You can certainly take both the SAT (or ACT) and TOEFL. Whether it is advantageous for you to do so, I don’t know. From MIT’s website:
You have to take the SAT (or ACT) no matter what.
@intparent For MIT, international students can either take the TOEFL or the SAT/ACT, as well as a math and science subject test.
I learn something new every day on CC! Will note for the future.
@MITer94 Yes! That’s what I was asking about but I still have that dilemma whether submitting the SAT + TOEFL + subj tests advantageous of not.
Thanks
I really appreciate your response
@Mrduque I would only take the SAT or ACT if you consider yourself fluent in English and know you can score well. Otherwise, take the TOEFL. Remember that MIT has a minimum TOEFL requirement if you take it.
Also remember that even if admitted, English proficiency is a must if you want to do well. For example, if you haven’t written papers in English, you’ll be doing so at MIT since there is a writing requirement.
@MITer94 Could you please answer some questions by private message?
I’ll try my best @Mrduque
