Internal transfer mccombs

I didnt know where else to post this...so i guess ill try right here hoping to get some feedback from yall.

So i'm a sophmore here at UT austin and am planning to apply to transfer into mccombs at the end of this semester. So i've taken all the 4 required courses. I'm planning to have a GPA anywhere from a 3.64 - 3.68 by the end of this semester. And by looking at the stats for the past 10 years on the internal transfer page I've noticed that the highest the minimum gpa has ever been has been 3.6 but usually its around the 3.5 range. So I guess my question is what do you guys think my chances are of getting in?

(I'm classified as a junior right now at UT even though its only my second year...but im well under the 90 hours)

I can’t answer you question since I’m still a senior in high school.

But are the required courses hard? Or do you think it would be easier to take them at a community college to get into McCombs?
I wasn’t accepted into McCombs at Ut but was accepted into Mays at A&M but I really do not want to go to A&M.

same here. I was accepted into the Mays honors program with a scholarship and declined it so i could go to UT. Hopefully it pays off cuz i dont think even if i now wanted to i could apply to T A&M.

As for your question, I’ve heard that taking the 4 required courses which are (micro/macro economics and calc 1/2) are GENERALLY tougher at UT austin than they would be at a community college. I took micro/macro in UT Austin and it was def challenging. But i would strongly advise you to take these courses either through AP tests in high school or at a community college over summer.

Good luck. GSN332

Thank you for the help! I hope you get accepted.

bumpppppp…anyoneee?

I’m in the same position as you with around a 3.67 GPA so hopefully that is enough to get in =). However, I don’t get what they mean by minimum GPA? I know that they accept students simply by going down the list of GPA from highest to lowest. So does that mean that if the minimum GPA average is a 3.6 then everyone above a 3.6 gets in?

@hihello1

yes. from what i understand min gpa means that if they decide that the min is a 3.6 then everyone above a 3.6 gets in. And then those who are on the “borderline” (idk what that exactly means but that could mean anywhere from a 3.58-3.6) will have their applications looked at closely…prbbly all of the extracurricular activities and/or awards/honors u received.

Quick question…were u able to figure out when we would receive our decisions. Because on the internal transfer page it indicates that the “decisions released” would happen on june 1st while on the other hand, when you submit your application online it says end of june/early july…???

I hope we get in :slight_smile: fingers crossed

Thanks Gsn =)
I don’t think anyone knows exactly when the decisions will be released, but I would bet that it would be in late June/early July (I know of someone that got in last year during June with a 3.6XX). However, since they stated that decisions will be released June 1st, then I believe that the applicants who are well above the cut-off GPA might get their acceptance early-mid June while those on the border would have to be reviewed carefully and their decision would be made sometime in July.
Again, thats just what I believe, and I might be completely wrong. Let me know if you find out for sure.
