Internal Transfer to CAS

I was wondering how hard it would be to transfer from another college within cornell to CAS.

Would this force the student to stay an extra (5th) year?

According to Cornell, most students are granted admission to their choice transfer college. "More than 95 % of ITD students transfer successfully." I think that all they want you to do is to explain your reason for changing and take classes in the college that you'd like to be in. I guess whether you'd be at school for a fifth year or not would depend on how many requirements you would fill with your present classes in your new college (its requirements as well as the major's requirements). You probably would not have to stay on another year, but this would depend on your courses, et cetera. There exist two types of transfer(apparently): direct transfer and transfer through the Internal Transfer Division (ITD).

Here's the Internal Transfer Division web site, it has more information:
<a href="http://www.sws.cornell.edu/ITD/%5B/url%5D">http://www.sws.cornell.edu/ITD/</a></p>

Hope this helps!!!

You will have to wait at least a year before doing the internal transfer so don't use this as a backdoor into CAS.

Yea good point, and I didn't mean to imply using internal transfer as a backdoor...woops. I meant just in case.

I was actually referring to the OP :) Usually when someone's considering transferring to another college at Cornell and they haven't taken a single class here, it's because they're looking for an "easy" way to get into the college they want.

Your cynicism is overwhelming.

When I went to the Cornell meeting I didn't get to ask this question. Cornell seemed like a flexible place and I just wanted to make sure I was right in this assumption. I wanted to make sure that if I changed my mind during my course of study and wanted to go into a broader field of study I wouldn't be penalized.

Amazing what CC can do to somebody...

I had the same question too. Right nowI don't really know my major, so I want to apply for CAS. But I'm afraid I'll eventually transfer out. I don't want to pay for an extra year of 50k though. Do people often stay an extra year if they transfer?

CALS dont use ITD and AEM is being a ***** about internal transfering. what to do?
