Internal Transfer to McCombs

Hi everyone I was hoping people could give me some advice/suggestions or just their 2 cents on what I should do and my current situation.

So at the moment I am a junior looking to do an internal transfer into McCombs so that I can double major and focus in Finance. I have all the prereqs to do the transfer and I feel like I'm pretty much guaranteed in with my GPA. However, looking into my situation, I feel like it's really late in the game to be doing this as I've already missed out on internship opportunities during Freshman-Junior years that others have already done. I also can't apply for BHP and as far as I can tell the FAP since the prereqs for that program require many more prereqs. If I wanted to break into investment banking, am I already considered too late as I haven't done any internships related to business and I'm pretty sure I can't do the FAP. Since I'm pretty much done with my first degree I would be able to focus on the finance degree starting next year and most likely finish in two years. However, I'm not sure if I'm too far behind those who are interested in working at a BB and the financial services industry. Also, are there any steps I can take at the moment? With McCombs being so restrictive in the resources that I can utilize as I'm not currently in the bschool, I feel like I'm currently at a standstill and won't be able to do anything until the summer when I actually transfer in the school.

Bottom line, transfer. You have no shot in h*ll of breaking into front office IB at a BB if you’re from any other college at UT, so going to McCombs is a must. My advice is complete your first degree, do ANY finance related internship this summer (wealth management, commercial banking, energy finance, etc), there are tons in Austin. Then once you’re in McCombs use OCR for your shot at an IB summer internship. You really only have one chance at IB too since we’re no where near a recovery and BB are only selecting full-time hires from their intern pools. Good luck.
