Thanks again for the info. Based on some of the responses, another question has come up. I already have AP credit for stats, micro, macro, and calc, some of the classes you guys said I should take. Do those credits count as A's toward my GPA in terms of transfering, or will I have to get A's in (presumably) harder classes to get a 4.0 or 3.8 or whatever? Though I doubt I'd actually do this, anyone want to share their thoughts on just not claiming my AP Credit and just taking those classes in order to get A's for sure? Thanks in advance once again

no, the credits you bring with you, if you decide to take them, will not affect your gpa in any way.

personally i would retake certain classes if you are confident in your ability to do well, and since ap classes are often much easier and smaller in scope than their penn equivalent.

Penn will give you credit for some but not all AP courses. Usually you have to have a 5 on the test. Sometimes they'll use an AP for placement level but won't give actual credit. Consult the course guide and the admissions office for details. But they don't use pre-college credits (not for courses you have taken in other colleges either) for GPA calculation purposes at all. Also CAS and Wharton may differ on what they'll give you credit for, so if you transfer later you may have to revisit your transfer credits.

I wouldn't retake courses that you've received credit for. The reason Penn gives you credit in the first place is that they judge the courses to be equivalent. If you've already had BC calc then you'll be bored taking the same course over again - you might not get as good a grade as you think just because you'll be so bored that you'll end up not going to class or paying attention.

johhny, i luv ur sarcasm...i totally agree there
