Internationa Student's application

Hello everyone!

I'm an 18-year old female from Argentina, applying to college for Fall 2010.
I have a question regarding the Letters of Recommendation:
*Most schools require 2 teacher recommendations . Now, are these to be written in the TEACHERS EVALUATION FORM (from the Common Application) or in a "letter-like" format with the school's letterhead ??? or both?

Regarding application:
* Can I use the applications found in the college's website, even though they are intended for Spring 2009, Fall 2009, or Spring 2010 Enrollment????????? (I'm applying for FALL 2010 admission)
Or will I have to wait for the applications for the 2010 enrollment to be available?
* I graduated from high school (with honors) in December 2008. This current year (2009) I will be preparing for the SAT I & II as well as for the TOEFL and working. So, how will I fill out my application? Most ask: " School you now attend" (which i dont) what would go there? The letters required should be dated from the year I graduated (2008) ? or is it ok to ask my former high school teachers to write them this year?
*The Secondary School report involves what years?
9-12th? or 10-12th?
*The official transcript should include the grades obtained in what years??

Thanks!!!

Both. Ask the teacher to fill the Common App form…i.e the checkboxes, ratings, info etc but not the evaluation part. Instead attach a letter on the school letterhead with the rec.

Im not too sure

This year is fine

*The Secondary School report involves what years?

9-12th

*The official transcript should include the grades obtained in what years??

9-12th

THANKS!!!

;p

Oh and just be careful with the signatures on the reco…don’t forget to ask the teacher to sign on the form, letterhead and across the flap of the envelope for each reco. Atleast thats how i did it…

That’s one way to do it but not necessary. The teachers can write their letter into the space provided on the form and then photocopy the form x times.

Answer “none” or “n/a”. You are not in school right now.

"The teachers can write their letter into the space provided on the form and then photocopy the form x times. "

Really? So, the teachers only send the photocopies off to the Universities? Are these colored photocopies? Do these have to have their original signature?

Colored photocopies are nicer to look at but plain photocopies work. They will need an original signature though somewhere. Either have your teachers photocopy the form before they sign it and then sign every photocopy, or have them sign across the seal of the envelope that the recommendation is sent in.

Of course attaching a letter to a (photocopied or not) recommendation form works as well.

Thanks!!!

What do most of you guys do? I like the idea of having a letter attached to the form. I was thinking about printing each form x amount of times, so that the universitues can get the originals.

Also, the part in the form where I have to fill out , should it be in print(hand-written?) or ink (printer?) ???

;)

hahahaha, I forgot, the teachers and the counseler, should fill out their portion of the application in the printer (is that called ink?) or hand written (called ink) ?

i used the printer. i asked my counselor to photocopy x times and attest (original signature and school stamp) each of them. i also preferred attaching the letter with the stamp and the signature, rather than writing in the form itself.

either ways is fine

Thanks!!!

:) ;)

I’m from Argentina and I live here in the states! Where are you applying?
