International Applicant College Advice

Hey guys!

So I have this relative in China who currently is a junior at an international school. He is looking for colleges to apply to in the United States. He wants to study something math or physics related, so engineering is not off the table. He’s taken the most rigorous course load offered by his school(around 2-3 AP classes), and has a SAT score of around 1900. His extracurriculars however, are almost none existent.

Could someone recommend, whether public or private, a few schools for him to apply to? His family is fairly wealthy, so paying for college is not an issue.

His first stop is at the guidance office of his own international school. Since they are offering AP classes, they must be following a US style curriculum, and it is almost certain that the guidance office will be familiar with the college application process here and will be able to tell him where students like him have been admitted in the past.

He (and his parents) also should read through everything (and yes, I do indeed mean everything) at https://educationusa.state.gov/ That will give them a solid overview of college admissions in the US for international students. When they have done that, they can contact the Advising Center closest to where they live. The counselors there will be able to help them through the process.
