currently a student in an american school that is in dubai right now

i've heard that int'l applicants usually are negatively impacted, but would a pretty (i would assume) under-represented international country be treated any differently?

It really depends on the schools you’re targeting. The very selective schools have a over abundance of qualified international applicants (some schools like HYP have FANTASTIC financial aid for internationals – increasing the competition even more). For these schools, your chances negatively impacted by the sheer numbers of applicants in the international pool.

However, less selective schools actively welcome international applicants if they are able to pay full tuition.

If you have US citizenship or have US Green card, then you’re not considered international and your chances increase across the board.

It’s not a country-by-country system it’s all international students together, and there are a LOT of middle east students seeking to study in the U.S.
