International Applicant - Help

I need to know about the social scene, and how left out one would feel if he/she isn't into partying.

Also, it would be of great help if anyone gave me some idea about international students' chances at financial aid !

The social scene has been covered extensively in the “what would you like to know” thread, but the short answer is that Vassar is not a particularly hard-partying school, and you should have no troubles on that front.

The financial aid question is trickier: even if you could get the statistics, it wouldn’t help much because you wouldn’t know how strong the applications were. It couldn’t hurt to contact the financial aid office and ask about it, but before you do I would suggest spending some time doing a little homework. Take a look at the students profiles that Vassar includes in its marketing materials. Consider what about Vassar, in particular, makes you really really want to go there instead of any other similar school. Take a hard look at your application: how competitive is it? and then, putting all of those together: what would you add to the school community? Remember that the admissions team looks at how strong each candidate is, but also how they fit into the class that is being put together- a strong class will have a range of people who are good at different things, have different life experiences, etc. Where are you from?

I’m from India :)

What part of India? are you applying to colleges in other countries as well? other US colleges? And- what is drawing you to Poughkeepsie / Vassar?

(sorry if that is a lot of questions! love international applicants is all)

"Q: Does Vassar offer financial aid to international students?

A: Yes, Vassar does offer need-based financial aid to international students applying as freshmen and is one of the leading providers of financial assistance to international students among American colleges and universities. Vassar is not need-blind in the evaluation of international students at this time. However, if admitted, Vassar meets 100% of the candidate’s demonstrated financial need for all four years. If you wish to be considered for financial aid at any time during your four years at Vassar, you should apply at the time of admission."
