I need to know about the social scene, and how left out one would feel if he/she isn't into partying.

Also, it would be of great help if anyone gave me some idea about international students' chances at financial aid !

Honestly, I really do think there are lots of things for kids to do who aren’t into partying, as I see stuff going on all the time (on Middblog, the paper etc)… still, it is college.

My understanding about fin-aid at Midd is that International students don’t get first dibs on financial aid, and they aren’t admitted need-blind either. So, the less money you need, the better. Other than that, I don’t think I’d have any qualms about calling/emailing the financial aid office and let them give you the exact 411. There is an online calculator on the website, but I have no idea if it offers an international spin.

I see! Thanks :)

Anyone else?

There is financial aid for internationals, but as Moda reports, admissions is not need blind. That means there is aid for internationals and they are admitted in good numbers, plus those admitted receive full demonstrated need, but admissions works from a budget and once the budget is exhausted for internationals, they stop admitting any more international students. That said, Middlebury has still matriculated more than 10 percent internationals in its first year class for many years, including 11% this past year.

^^^if it isn’t clear above, Midd meets 100% of the demonstrated financial need for all admitted international students. In other words–getting in is the hard part.

Middlebury still meets 100% need for internationals? I read something different on an article…Please confirm the accuracy! Thanks so much :)

Financial assistance at Middlebury is based entirely on established need; financial assistance based on merit is not offered. Though Middlebury is not need-blind in its admission of international students, we do meet 100% of the demonstrated financial need of any student we admit, US or international. International students seeking financial assistance must apply for aid at the time of applying for admission to Middlebury, and by the deadlines indicated on our website.

As a current Midd kid who isn’t really into parties, I’d say you’d be absolutely fine at Midd. Sure, the vast majority of students party–at some point. But most don’t go out every night, or even every weekend, for whatever reason, so there’s always people who aren’t partying at any given time. In my experience, there are plenty of people who are staying in to watch movies, just hang out, or do homework on the weekends.

As a person who wishes the Midd party scene was a little wilder, I’d say that you’d be fine.
