international applicant

Hi i'm an international student and i want to apply for WashU
i know it's like reaching for the stars but i still wanna give it a shot...

i took the sat and i got CR 660 Math 800 Writing 620 total 2080
i know it's not great
760 on Math 2 and 730 on physics, I plan to retake them

my GPA should be around 4 considering the special ways our school gives out grades.
I'm in the top 3% of our school. And our school is the best high school in the nation.
(PS How can I make colleges realize that? since our high school transcript doen't give out rankings?)
Our school doesnt have honored classes or something such as
and the environment here doesn't provide enough opportunity for extracurricular activities or job experiences.

I volunteer at the national musem for about 120 hours
was a volunteer for stray animals, and also tutored other students

keyboard player in a rock band for two years, numerous speech and writing contests, badminton comtests, participated in international symposiums...

my teachers say that my essays are good but i'm not that sure.

I was wondering if I have a chance or not... Thank you and please be free to leave any suggestions!!

Just from your stats and how you described your activities, I would say your chances are quite low. You haven’t really shown me anything that would stand out from the rest of the crowd. As an international student, you would definitely need to get that SAT up, if still possible, especially the CR section. Think of the one activity that you can really stand out with and one that you are really passionate about, and talk about it in your personal essay or something. The key is distinguishing yourself from the rest of the 28,000 applicants.

What country are you from by the way? That may factor in into the decision as well, since WashU is seeking a diverse student population. Also, you don’t have to say it here, but being able to finance your education without financial aid would be a huge factor.

It should be noted that nearly all financial aid package are for US citizens/permanent residents anyway, seeing as how they are government funded.

You are eligible for merit scholarships however. So apply to those.
